A focus on the individual is at the heart of everything we do.
FAQ
In most cases 2-3 terms should see a significant improvement in skills & confidence, reduction in anxiety, increased effort & motivation. Some benefits kick in straight away as the student feels seen & supported and their most fundamental obstacles to learning are identified and improved. Once their learning foundation is secure and learning gaps have been filled, students then progress quickly through the curriculum and begin to improve their school marks & performance more rapidly. These expectations may be longer for students in later school years or those with lower levels of confidence due to the increased emotional effort required to develop belief in their learning ability or the increased complexity and broader learning base required. Students looking to excel and achieve at the highest levels will often require ongoing support to maintain motivation and discipline and to avoid developing learning gaps by being more future focused and prepared.
Everything we do is focused on your child as an individual. From identifying your child’s initial strengths and weaknesses and their individual learning styles, to monitoring and ensuring their success through each stage of their learning journey, our tutors are working to ensure that your child understands and masters the key skills and habits that lead to confidence, independence and motivation. With weekly feedback on their progress and recognition of key milestones in their learning journey, your child will always know exactly what they need to work on and what to expect as they move up the ladder of success.
Small groups provide a number of significant benefits that lead to improved performance over time. Students participating in small groups routinely report higher levels of motivation, increased confidence, lower levels of stress and anxiety, and deeper levels of long term learning.
One on one tuition requires much higher levels of personal motivation and discipline but may often be necessary for a period of time for students with severe confidence issues or learning difficulties. Often students in this category would benefit from paediatric assistance in the form of counselling or medication prior to engaging in a course of tuition.
Building a house, driving a car, learning a sport or a musical instrument always starts with the basics. The school syllabus often moves too quickly to allow mastery of skills and the creation of genuine independence leading to lower levels of performance and confidence over time. By mastering skills with a “do it once, do it right” attitude, students ultimately progress more quickly, achieve higher levels of motivation and independence, and save time and money.
The short answer is no. Timely feedback and practice are crucial and splitting a student’s focus over multiple areas forms huge barriers to learning, retention and the development of confidence & independence. It is generally far better to focus on one subject at a time and getting to a point of stability and permanence before switching subjects. If you have any questions or want more information on what to prioritise in your child’s learning plan, book a consultation or speak with your child’s tutor.
